Ficus carica | Fig

Ficus carica, also known as the common fig, is a deciduous tree or shrub that belongs to the Moraceae family. It is native to the Middle East and Western Asia and is widely cultivated for its sweet fruit.

  • It has large, palmate leaves that are deeply lobed and can reach up to 25 centimeters in length.

  • The fruit is a type of multiple fruit called a syconium, which is shaped like a pear and ranges in color from green to purple.

Figs have been used medicinally for centuries. They are a good source of vitamins and minerals, including vitamin A, vitamin C, potassium, and calcium. Figs have also been shown to have anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties.
